Evaporative Cooling
An evaporative cooler (also swamp cooler, desert cooler, and wet air cooler) is a device that cools air through the evaporation of water. Evaporative cooling differs from typical air conditioning systems, which use vapor-compression or absorption refrigeration cycles. The temperature of dry air can be reduced significantly through the transition of liquid water to water vapor, which requires much less energy than refrigeration.
In extremely dry climates, it also has the added benefit of conditioning the air with more moisture for the comfort of occupants. Unlike refrigeration, it requires a water source, and must continually consume water to operate. Our staff at Old Pueblo Heating and Cooling has the know-how and experience to maintain and repair nearly every brand of evaporative cooler sold in the U.S.
Heating (furnace / heat pump / electric)
Old Pueblo Heating and Cooling is the leading Tucson Air Conditioning Repair company, as well as experts in Tucson heating repair and maintenance. Even in a warm city like Tucson, properly heating your home or business is as important as cooling. With winter temperatures that sometimes reach freezing, a proper heating system is critical to keeping your home and its contents in top condition. We service all major brands of furnaces, heat pumps, and electric heating units, including …
Ductless and Split-system air conditioners
If you live in a home (or manage a business) with no central air conditioning (ducts), then duct-free splits may be what you’re waiting for. Quieter, safer, and generally more efficient than window air conditioners, duct-free split system heat pumps also offer efficient heating during moderate outdoor weather.
For areas in your building with cooling and heating loads different than the rest of the building, our duct-free experts can offer you a cost-effective solution using duct-free products. For rooms that heat/cool people, we offer a line of high efficiency inverter systems (high SEER) with very low sound levels that, while saving you money, also keeps the people ultra comfortable by controlling the temperature. For rooms that heat/cool equipment (and thus have fixed loads), we offer a full line of fixed speed, high SEER systems at a very economical price point.
These systems are equally quiet. Old Pueblo Heating and Cooling’s technicians are trained and experienced at maintaining and repairing split-system air conditioners made my every major manufacturer, including Carrier.
Air purification systems (air cleaners / filters)
Air purification systems are devices that remove contaminants from the air. These devices are commonly marketed as being beneficial to allergy sufferers and asthmatics, and at reducing or eliminating second-hand tobacco smoke. Commercial grade air purifiers are manufactured as either small stand-alone units or larger units that can be affixed to an air handler unit (AHU) or to an HVAC unit found in the medical, industrial, and commercial industries.
Dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, and dust mite feces can act as allergens, triggering allergies in sensitive people. Smoke particles and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can pose a risk to health. Exposure to various components such as VOCs increases the likelihood of experiencing symptoms of sick building syndrome.
Additionally, with the advancement in technology, air purifiers are becoming increasingly capable of capturing a greater number of bacterial, virus, and DNA damaging particulates. Air purifiers are used to reduce the concentration of these airborne contaminants and are very useful for people who suffer from allergies and asthma.[2] Air purifiers also reduce the need for frequent room and area cleaning of dust.
Several different processes of varying effectiveness can be used to purify air, including: Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation, Filter, HEPA, Activated carbon, Polarized-Media Electronic Air Cleaners, Photocatalytic Oxidation, Ionizer purifiers, Liquid Ioniser, Ozone generators, Titanium dioxide.
Coil cleaning
Dirt and debris accumulating on an air conditioner or heat pump coil block airflow across the coil, increasing the cost of heating or cooling the building. In severe cases, cooling or condensing coils can become so blocked that air flow is seriously reduced, possibly also leading to an evaporator or cooling coil icing problem indoors or an overheated, damaged compressor outdoors, or simply loss of cooling capacity of the system.
In addition, a blocked evaporator coil can cause the HVAC compressor to run at higher than normal temperatures – a condition that over time can break down lubricants circulating inside the system, thus shortening the life of the compressor motor itself. Every one of Old Pueblo Heating and Cooling’s technicians are experts in cleaning coils in the most appropriate and efficient manner, utilizing best practices and the proper tools.
High efficiency upgrades
Tucson’s Air Conditioning Repair Company is also Tucson’s best air conditioning upgrade company.
Okay, so you know that your old heating and cooling system is lousy for the environment. But do you know just how bad it really is?
To give you an idea: your old-fashioned hot water tank alone – all by itself – produces about half the carbon emissions of the average car! Add the emissions from your cranky old furnace and your noisy old air conditioners, and you’re really racking up the CO2.
Replacing your old carbon-belching heaters, air conditioners, and hot water heaters with new high-efficiency models is a great thing to do for the planet, no question about it. And buying new high-efficiency equipment will give you some serious bragging rights next time you get together with your environmentally-minded friends and neighbors.
But there’s more than that. A new heating and cooling system isn’t only good for the planet and your reputation. It’s also great for you. Here’s how a new high-efficiency system will benefit you: You’ll save money, you’ll be a lot more comfortable in your home, you’ll have more enjoyable showers, you’ll breathe better, and your heating and cooling equipment will last longer
So, how do you know if your home heating system needs replacement? It’s simple. If your system is more than 10 years old and/or it’s not keeping your house comfortable, it’s time to talk to us about replacing it with a new, high-efficiency model.
Mobile home systems
Old Pueblo Heating and Cooling is also Tucson’s air conditioning repair company for mobile homes, which often present vastly different issues and concerns. If your mobile home air conditioning and heating systems are not working at optimal efficiency, ask our Old Pueblo technicians to take a look. Energy saving measures
An important aspect of maintaining top efficiency in your home and business heating and cooling systems is a energy efficiency audit, which can be expertly performed by Old Pueblo Heating and Cooling’s highly experienced technicians.
The goal of these efforts is to reduce the amount of energy required to heat and cool your home or business. For example, insulating a home allows a building to use less heating and cooling energy to achieve and maintain a comfortable temperature. Installing fluorescent lights or natural skylights reduces the amount of energy required to attain the same level of illumination compared to using traditional incandescent light bulbs. Compact fluorescent lights use two-thirds less energy and may last 6 to 10 times longer than incandescent lights. Improvements in energy efficiency are most often achieved by adopting a more efficient technology or production process.
There are various motivations to improve energy efficiency. Reducing energy use reduces energy costs and may result in a financial cost saving to consumers if the energy savings offset any additional costs of implementing an energy efficient technology. Reducing energy use is also seen as a key solution to the problem of reducing emissions.
